Salary Range: Teachers’ Main Scale or Upper Pay scale (dependant on years of teaching experience)

Thameside Primary is located in the heart of Caversham, just a 2 minute walk away from Caversham village. It’s a great community to come and work in.

Role specifics

We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient teacher with excellent classroom practice to join our supportive, hardworking staff team. At Thameside, we put the children at the centre of everything we do and applicants should have the ability to inspire and enthuse our children as they progress through their learning journey in school.

You should be able to demonstrate you have great organisational skills to plan school days which ensure all children can make the most of the learning opportunities, whatever their starting point or individual need. A caring nature - to support our children and help them grow - is also essential. 

You will be part of an effective and ambitious team that supports and challenges teachers to deliver the best possible outcomes for our children and promote the best outcomes for all our children, including children with SEND.

We are looking to appoint:

  • Someone who has the passion, enthusiasm and genuine desire to ensure that teaching and learning is the best it can be to meet the needs of our fantastic children.
  • A skilful teacher who is able to focus on improving the outcomes for our children in their class
  • Someone who has excellent subject knowledge or willingness to learn new skills to ensure that our children can flourish and make excellent progress in their learning 
  • Has up-to-date knowledge of current ideas / thinking around the National Curriculum and Childhood Development.
  • Someone who is resilient and can build positive relationships with a range of children, including those children who may need extra support and scaffolding to best manage the routine and structure of school life.

Play Workers for Wraparound Care Service

Breakfast & After School Club (Aftercare)

Hours: Between 5- 18.75 hours per week, term time only

Salary Scale RG2 Actual salary £2,709 - £10,318 per annum (dependant on actual contracted hours)

Start date: February/March 2025

School term time hours: *Required hours* Monday - Friday

Breakfast club from 7.50am – 8:50am

After school club from 3.15pm - 6.00pm

*Please indicate if you would like to be considered for both Breakfast and Aftercare hours or if you would only like to be considered for one or the other.

Job Description

We are looking for passionate and creative play assistants to join our school run Wraparound Care Service. As a member of the wraparound team, you will gain valuable experience assisting the delivering a wide range of engaging and participative childcare activities; working with children from ages 4 - 12. Our Play Assistants are passionate, enthusiastic and thrive in a highly rewarding role that facilitates children’s development throughout their time in our Breakfast and After School.

This is a demanding but very rewarding role suited to someone with an interest in supporting children and should ideally have some relevant experience of working alongside children. You should be self-motivated, have good communication skills and be able to engage with children positively.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver safe activities with the children either as a group or on a 1:1 basis
  • Engage with children encouraging them to participate in activities to promote learning and social development
  • Support children on a 1:1 basis who have complex needs
  • Encourage fair and caring behaviour among the children
  • Encourage independence and self-esteem
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are adhered to
  • Assist with food preparation for serving breakfast and afterschool snacks
  • Complete various training courses including Food Hygiene and Child Safeguarding.
